Why are sensory activities so important for babies?

baby classes edinburgh

Our babies learn about the world around them by using their senses. Every experience is a chance for our babies to learn and while all of this new learning is happening, new connections are being made in their brain which is so important for development.

The seven senses that we use in sensory play activities

  • Touch
  • Vision
  • Hearing
  • Taste
  • Smell
  • Movement & balance (vestibular sense)
  • Proprioception (awareness of where our body is in space)

Our sessions are evidence based and carefully planned by an occupational therapist, who is sensory integration trained with babies, to make sure that each activity stimulates development and helps our babies learn about the world through new experiences. Please get in touch if you’d like any information on our classes.

Every experience is an opportunity to learn!
